End Close is a payment reconciliation platform for high-volume payments companies. It automates recon with 99.9% rules-based matching and AI agents that investigate and resolve exceptions in real time, giving finance and engineering teams numbers they can trust.

End Close was founded in early 2026 by Sean Bolton (CEO) and David Newell (CTO) and was part of Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch.

Sean was the third hire at Modern Treasury where he spent 6 years as the tech lead of payments engineering before building and running the reconciliation org. While there he scaled the product to $350B in annual payments volume and $1T in annual reconciliation volume with 99.995% automation, the same approach he's building at End Close.

Before End Close, David was the team lead at PostHog for the error tracking product which became the fastest growing in the company's history. David previously founded Unflow and has worked as a product engineer at Intercom and Basecamp.
